Opportunity confronts you. What do you do with it? Be honest. Have you prepared for it?

Opportunity is defined as “a set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something”.
Without
indulging those with a victim mentality, how do you see life? I see it as in “every
day that we can wake up in our right minds is an opportunity within itself”. Opportunity
to face the circumstances of life to do something better, something different, something
other than what was done in the past (yesterday). This can be applied to being
a better version of yourself, a better job, a better perspective, and, overall,
a better outcome for all things considered.
Successful
people do not wake up one day and become successful. They had to prepare for
it. We all have ideas, plans, and strategies to become successful. The only
difference between successful people and those who are not, is that they acted.
We have thousands of thoughts a day, but they get us nowhere, but see our
actions take us places. Keep in mind that our thoughts must line up with our
actions. So, what are some steps you can take to be successful when opportunity
presents itself? I believe these are a good starting point:
Courage–
Do not fear man or the unknown. Pray about it. Ask for clarity. Keep moving despite
the “what if’s”. The Lord will guide you and keep you. The Lord told Joshua in Joshua
1:6,
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong
and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God
will be with you wherever you go.” ….
Good attitude– Try to see
the positive in every situation. Someone has lost their leg, but it could have
been both legs. Someone lost both legs, but it could have been an arm too. Someone
has lost all their limbs (arms and legs), but it could have been their life.
You get the point. I said all that to say, no matter what it is, there is hope.
If that analogy does not work for you, then just try to find the humor in
whatever it is. We can do as Paul
instructed in Romans 12:2,
“Do not conform to the pattern of
this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
Hard
work– This means doing something consistently to get to the desired
outcome. This may be every day. I pray to carry my cross daily, because there
are some things I just don’t feel like doing. But I would not be writing this
blog if I settled for what I felt like doing vs what needed to be done to get it
written and posted. We can listen to
what James 2:17, 24 says
“In the
same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”“You see
that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.”
Determination– I believe this
truly goes against your fears. You will find that being courageous with a good
attitude leads to success when you are also determined. I had to get my mind
right to sit here and write. I sat here and continued to think about what it was
that I was going to write about and Wallah! So, before I get discouraged, I remember a section of Philippians 3:13 that states
“Forgetting
what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,…”.

you. Rather it’s an opportunity to wake up every morning and start your day
anew, to mend a broken relationship, to humble yourself, or take the next step in
that relationship, at work, or at school. I do not know what opportunity confronts
you, but I have faith that you will be successful in conquering it.
Be Blessed,
