Scripture

“The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. ‘If you are the Son of God,’ he said, ‘throw yourself down from here. For it is written: He will command… a stone.’ Jesus answered, ‘It is said: Do not put the Lord your God to the test.”

-Luke 4:9-12

Devotion

In this final temptation, the devil challenges Jesus to throw Himself down from the temple, quoting Scripture to suggest that God will protect Him. Jesus responds by affirming that we should not test God. This teaches us to trust in God’s protection without recklessly putting ourselves in harm’s way. We are called to live wisely and faithfully, trusting that God will care for us in His perfect way. With this understanding, what better decision-making skills do we need to develop in various areas of our lives?

Prayer

Father, help us trust in Your protection and live wisely. Keep us from testing You and guide us to walk in faith and obedience. Continue to grant us Your wisdom and discernment regarding all things and those we are connected to in the world around us. Thank You for Your constant care and love. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

You are blessed.
