Scripture
“Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.”
–Proverbs 29:25
Devotional
This Proverb encourages us to trust the Lord rather than fear what others might think or do. Trusting in God keeps us safe from the snares of fear and anxiety. Men may threaten or try to intimidate us because of who we belong to and not necessarily because of who we are. The Lord tells us in Philippians 4, “Do not be anxious for anything, but through prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your request known to Him and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” (4:6-7). Both fear of man and worry are snipers that we don’t have to allow to take hold of our lives.
How often do we worry about things that never happen, yet we can’t get back the time we spent thinking about the worst-case scenarios?
Prayer:
Father, help us trust in You and not be ensnared by the fear of man. Keep us safe in Your care and guide us in Your ways. We look to You for reassurance even when things do not make sense, knowing that You are working all things out for our good and Your Glory. In Jesus’ name, we humbly pray, Amen.
