Scripture
“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.”
– James 3:17
Devotion
Heavenly wisdom is defined by qualities such as purity, peace, consideration, submission, mercy, good fruit, impartiality, and sincerity. These traits reflect God’s nature and should be evident in our lives. We are encouraged to seek this divine wisdom and allow it to transform our actions and relationships. However, embodying these characteristics can be challenging, especially when we feel wronged, let down, or pushed down by others and when life circumstances are difficult.
So, how do we obtain this heavenly wisdom? We begin by leaning into the things of God and focusing our sights on Heaven.
What do you need to let go of to embrace the qualities of heavenly wisdom?
Prayer
Father, grant us the wisdom that comes from above. Please help us to be pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, merciful, fruitful, impartial, and sincere. May Your wisdom guide our thoughts and actions, bringing glory to Your name. We don’t have to operate in anger or bitterness, no matter the circumstances. We can turn to You for solace, knowing that Your Word will not return to us void. We trust Your Word today. In Jesus’ name, we humbly pray. Amen.
