It is easy to become caught up in gossip and angry about what we hear or witness. However, we should always be mindful to treat others how we would want to be treated. We should process our emotions internally by identifying them and avoiding taking drastic measures. Just because we feel angry doesn’t mean we should act or say whatever we feel. God warns us against acting in anger.
Scripture
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.
James 1:19-20
Prayer
Dear Lord, please help me to control my words and emotions. I ask for the wisdom to think before I speak and to process my feelings before responding to others. The saying “hurt people hurt people” is true, but I pray that this cycle of hurt stops with me. I want to create a safe and peaceful environment within my home and my workplace. I humbly pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
