Reading God’s Word can give you a fresh perspective on life! In Jeremiah Chapter 29, there is a letter to the Exiles from Jerusalem to Babylon that encourages the exiles to keep living despite their circumstances. The letter advises them to build houses, plant gardens, get married, have children, and increase in number. They are also encouraged to seek peace and prosperity of the city because if it prospers, they will prosper, too. Furthermore, the letter warns the exiles not to let the prophets and diviners around them deceive them. They are advised not to listen to their dreams because they are prophesying lies in the name of the Lord. The Lord has not sent them, according to the letter.
This is an encouraging message in itself. First, it’s important to keep living a productive life even when it seems like there are troubles on every side. Second, it’s important to seek peace and prosperity and to be optimistic instead of a critic so that growth can happen. Finally, it’s crucial to stop believing lies and dwelling on the negative.
In bad situations, you must decide that you will either “grow in it” or “grow from it,” but always thrive.

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,’ declares the LORD, “and will bring you back from captivity.”

Prayer
Dear Lord, I thank you for your unwavering plans of good, even when things are not going well. I pray that you give me the strength and wisdom to carry on, and the mindset to seek you always for guidance, peace, and prosperity that only you can provide. May I grow through the storm and learn from the pain. Thank you, Lord, for your unconditional love and mercy on my life. I humbly pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
